Never liked a meal of lobster Wenberg? You will now find the dish on good restaurants or menu of dinner. In fact, the dish exists as lobster Wenberg for less than a month to of Delmonico in the 1890s. This epicurean delight has thrived since then, but the name has changed, and the man who was responsible for the popularization of the deal has been forgotten.
Benjamin j. Wenberg was a the end of the 19th century shipping magnate. He traveled widely manage his business well run. While on a journey in South America, it was a dish of lobster, as it did had never tasted before. It was rapture at the first bite. Immediately, he began to assemble the recipe and back to New York.
During a visit to the famous restaurant Wenberg of Delmonico described the dish for the owner, Lorenzo Delmonico. He has wandered on the sauce made from sherry, thick yellow cream and eggs, and how the taste of shelled lobster has so enriched by the creamy mixture. Mr. Delmonico was intrigued and began to work his head on the recipe. When it was perfected it added to the menu as lobster Wenberg, in honor of the discoverer.
The dish was an immediate success with the wealthy clients of Delmonico. The best form of marketing, Word of mouth spread like fire wild. Restaurant sales increased considerably. Then, providentially for Benjamin Wenberg and the dish that he had discovered and initially helped to popularize, fate has visited a cruel turn.
While on one of his regular visits to of Delmonico, Wenberg soaked a little too much grog, got into a fight with another customer in the main dining room and was deported permanently restaurant. Lorenzo Delmonico was furious, and he now had a problem. Lorenzo Delmonico has been nothing if not a great restorer. He was not going to take the dish off the coast of its menu; It was too popular and profitable. However, he was furious with Mr. Wenberg and decided to withdraw his name from the capsule. He chose the name of lobster Newburg, Newburg is the name of a small town on the Hudson River. Newberg is an amalgam of the letters in the name of a Benjamin j. Wenberg. Mr. Delmonico never definitively announced that applied.
Lobster Newberg is now ubiquitous on fine dining menus establishment throughout the world. Benjamin j. Wenberg is only a reference to the story largely unknown, except for his be a reference in lore of restaurant and culinary. His name was decorated dish, he helped launch for less than a month.
History is replete with examples of this kind of people who are forgotten, but their discovery, invention or product lives on after having led to commercial heights by others. But for a night of debauchery, lobster Wenberg would still be the ultimate indulgence to enjoy after a promotion, the birth of a child or any other success of life are celebrated.
